NICE has published an updated Quality Standard on Heavy Menstrual Bleeding. The BSGE were involved as stakeholders and the clinical representatives on the NICE committee are active BSGE members.

The  updated quality standards build on the underlying NICE guideline on heavy menstrual bleeding.  Quality standards set out the priority areas for quality improvement, and concentrate on areas which stakeholders identify as having significant variations in quality and where best practice is not widely adopted in the NHS.   They tend to be adopted by commissioners and regulators, and often get incorporated into service specifications and contracts.

NICE, launching the standards said:

‘Ensuring women and girls have a full and accurate diagnosis is important’
